polivore fall/winter 2012 trends – faux fur

by jani on November 2, 2012

The next two outfits are complete opposites. I just want to show how versatile faux fur is this season. It can be worn as a faux fox collar on a large plaid jacket, lending itself to a very casual look. Notice the peplum top. This is another seasonal trend that is big in tops, dresses, skirts, coats or jackets. So if  you have a nice waistline you can accentuate it with peplum! Also be brave… try a funky neon print bag with other stripes and patterns. Strive to keep them blending together through a similar thread of color.

This is a much more sophisticated look. I love the Rachel Zoe faux snow leopard belted jacket. It is  lovely with a pair of white slacks… yes ladies, it’s after Labor Day and white will be worn throughout our cold and chilly months! It looks stylish with black with just a touch of eggplant in the infinity scarf and Miu Miu platforms.

2012 summer trend- peplum

by jani on June 22, 2012

Peplum is a funny sounding word… makes me think of toothpaste (Pepsodent) or maybe not. It is another throwback to years past, when peplum was all the rage. If  by now, you don’t know the term, it comes from the Greek word meaning “tunic”. In the world of fashion it is simply an over-skirt or ruffle that sits at the waste of blouses, dresses or jackets and it’s another 2012 retro trend. I love this paprika peplum strawberry blouse!

Add a bright floral peplum blouse over neon jeans and you have another great summer look. The print Gucci bag accessorizes this outfit and emphasizes the use of pattern on pattern, which is very in-style this season.

Personally, I love anything retro, so I’m really loving the style of today. I hope this offers you some fun ways to incorporate peplum into your wardrobe. This look does accentuate the waistline, so if you work at hiding your waistline, as I do, this look may not work for you. But…  the big but (I always like the big but) the “tunic” is also in style and that works for me!

I’d love to hear feedback on your feelings about peplum… like it? will you wear it? Can’t wait to hear!
