Breakfast

gross looking, tastes great!

I do love my vitamix and I’ve been blending ever since we bought it in the summer of ’08. Here’s the recipe for my breakfast smoothie. I love it; hope you will too:

Ingredients:

  • 1/2  large plum (optional)
  • 1/2 banana
  • 2-3 clementines or seedless mandarins
  • 3/4 c fresh carrots
  • handful of fresh spinach
  • 1/2 fresh peach (or frozen)
  • crushed ice to your taste (I only add a little if I’m using frozen peaches)

I add 8 oz of almond milk to my blender with one scoop of vanilla protein powder and stevia (Truvia) natural sweetner. I blend these on low then add the fruits and veggies and a little less than an  1/8 c crushed ice, then blend on high.

I know it looks gross, but I promise it is so tasty, good for you, gives you that morning boost of energy and you cannot taste the spinach or carrots; even my grandkids love this!

Warning: Blender Blunder- always check the bottom to make sure it’s good and tight or else you might see this!

My smoothie drink was everywhere, on my clothes, across the kitchen on my cabinets, and all over the floor! Good thing I wasn’t rushing off for a teaching job that morning; it took forever to clean up!
