Peplum is a funny sounding word… makes me think of toothpaste (Pepsodent) or maybe not. It is another throwback to years past, when peplum was all the rage. If by now, you don’t know the term, it comes from the Greek word meaning “tunic”. In the world of fashion it is simply an over-skirt or ruffle that sits at the waste of blouses, dresses or jackets and it’s another 2012 retro trend. I love this paprika peplum strawberry blouse!

Add a bright floral peplum blouse over neon jeans and you have another great summer look. The print Gucci bag accessorizes this outfit and emphasizes the use of pattern on pattern, which is very in-style this season.

Personally, I love anything retro, so I’m really loving the style of today. I hope this offers you some fun ways to incorporate peplum into your wardrobe. This look does accentuate the waistline, so if you work at hiding your waistline, as I do, this look may not work for you. But… the big but (I always like the big but) the “tunic” is also in style and that works for me!
I’d love to hear feedback on your feelings about peplum… like it? will you wear it? Can’t wait to hear!
