Whenever I think Super Bowl… I think sausage cream cheese stuffed mushrooms. It just became an annual event in our home. My kids (minus one who absolutely hates… I.Mean.Hates mushrooms) love this appetizer and always request it. It’s so easy and is a huge YUM!

Ingredients:

  • button mushrooms ( approximately 24)
  • 1/4 to 1/2 cup chopped fresh parsley (or to taste)
  • 16 oz package of mild pork sausage
  • 8 oz cream cheese
  • 1-2 tsp minced garlic

Remove stems from mushrooms ( I use a spoon) and finely chop both stems and parsley. Spray sauté pan with Pam and lightly brown chopped mushrooms, garlic and parsley. In a larger pan brown sausage until crumbly. Add mushroom mixture and cream cheese to sausage over medium heat. Mix thoroughly (cream cheese should become quite soft as you mix it with the sausage mixture).

Bake at 325 degrees for approximately 20 minutes. Place mushrooms under the broiler for about 3-5 minutes. Watch carefully. Place on a serving platter and enjoy the game!

This has always been a favorite whether we serve it at a party or for Super Bowl Sunday. Hope you enjoy making this recipe. I’d love to hear back! Oh, and go 49ers! :)

Does this mean we’re having a LeBaron Super Bowl party? I could really use some stuffed mushrooms right about now. (I’m not the one that despises mushrooms, who is, mom?)

We’re getting together at Chris’s. Should be great to get together with the family! And of course what would a Super Bowl be, without these stuffed mushrooms?! :)
